Post Colonial-Now

This work explores the negative space of the inside of a box and its analogy to life situations, situations that people become powerless in and are unable to extricate themselves from. Of particular interest to me is the interstitial space of displacement. I have been exploring this space through the "primitive" architecture of the Caribbean, and the historical resonances of colonialism that they encapsulate. The Caribbean has often been described as a place inhabited by displaced people, as the world becomes flatter and more tumultuous there is an immense amount of movement, a movement that I have become a part of.
